How to store and maintain my bike?

Keeping your bike clean and serviced ensures safety, prevents costly repairs, and extends the lifespan of components.

Daily & Weekly Checks

  • Tires: Check air pressure weekly (recommended PSI is printed on the tire sidewall). Low pressure damages tires and rims and increases flat risks.
  • Drivetrain & Brakes: Keep braking surfaces clean. Wipe down and lightly lubricate the chain with bike-specific oil.
  • Red Flags: Book a service immediately if you hear metal-to-metal grinding, if brake levers touch the handlebar, if gears skip, or if components feel loose/wobbly.

Service Interval Guide

  • First Service (100–300 km): Essential for new bikes to retighten bolts, spokes, and cables that stretch during initial rides.
  • Standard Service: 1x per year for seasonal summer use; 2x per year for frequent use; 3+ per year for year-round active riding (especially in winter salt and slush).
  • Suspension Maintenance: First service at 25 hours; every 50 hours of riding thereafter.

Proper Bike Storage

Always store your bike clean and dry in an indoor space.

Storage Rules

  • Position: Store upright on a kickstand, floor rack, or wall mount. Never store upside down—this forces air into hydraulic disc brake systems, damaging the brakes, saddle, and handlebar controls.
  • Long-Term Prep (Seasonal/Winter):
    1. Wash, dry, and apply light chain oil.
    2. Shift gears to the lowest cable tension setting.
    3. Inflate tires fully (re-check occasionally to prevent sidewall cracking).

E-Bike Battery Storage

  • Remove & Store: Detach the battery (and quick-release display) and store indoors in a dry, cool area away from heat sources.
  • Charge Level: Keep the battery charged between 40% and 80% (never leave it fully empty or at 100%). Check and top off every 2–3 months during long-term storage.
