What is a benefit bike?

A bicycle your employer provides as an employee benefit.

Tax status:

  • Ordered before April 24, 2025 → tax-free until contract ends (max 5 years from start)
  • Ordered April 24, 2025 onwards → taxable from January 1, 2026

You can:

  • Choose from Vapaus catalogue, partner shops, or EU online stores
  • Return, redeem, or transfer when your circumstances change
  • Use it however you like, also during free-time

What bike types are eligible?

You can choose any vehicle classified as a bicycle: hybrid, cargo, gravel, mountain, road, recumbent, or handcycle. It can be a classic bike or an e-bike.

E-bike specifications: If you choose an e-bike, it must have:

  • Maximum motor assistance: 250 watts
  • Maximum assisted speed: 25 km/h
  • Assistance only when pedalling (motor does not replace pedalling)

How you can use it

You can use your benefit bike for commuting or personal riding in your free time.

Important rules

  • The bike must be fully functional when purchased (not just a frame or individual components)
  • You can add accessories to your order
